Tax Letter 11

You Received a Tax Notice

You walked out to the mail mailbox, like any other day, and when you opened…

You walked out to the mail mailbox, like any other day, and when you opened the box you noticed a single white envelope.  Nothing seemed strange until you read the the return address… Internal Revenue Service!  And that’s when you got that sick feeling in the pit of your stomach and started to sweat. An IRS tax notice!

Now, if this is your first notice it’s always a shock.  You’re thinking what did I screw up this time.  You checked everything twice didn’t you.  Thoughts raced through your mind.  This is the time when you need to start looking for solutions to your problem.  Do I really owe this much?  These penalties and interest are outrageous.  Can I get the IRS to drop or reduce them?

Take a breath.  Relax.  You need to research the following questions:

  • How do I find someone who can help me with the tax notice?
  • Where do I start?
  • What if I can’t pay the entire amount?
  • How long do I have before the IRS shows up at my door?

If you want to research the tax notice you received, you can start at the IRS website here.

You can ask your friends and neighbors if they’ve had tax issues and weren’t able to pay, but you may not want then to know you’re in this tax mess.  Or you could search Google …. No, don’t do that.  Set up a 10 minute call with us.  If we can help you, we’ll tell you.  If we can’t help, we will refer you to someone who can.
